Tango

The Tango in dance form was created by the gauchos of Argentina. The dance rhythm came out of the music of their saloons and taverns. It is characterized by an unusual staccato accent on each beat and an emphatic 2/4 time signature.

Tango's breakthrough came at a dance competition in England in the mid-1930s. The dance was so well presented by a german competitive couple that before long, Tango was being danced by competitors and taught in the studios.
